Works great in the datacenter! Dec 22, 2011
By Jon Schweitzer I work in a datacenter and with all the noise from the air conditioners and server fans, it's extremely difficult to hear and be heard on the phone. I struggled with many headsets until I remembered this Plantronics set that I used many years ago while working in a call center.
I took a gamble and ordered this model with the noise cancelling mic and WOW! With the versatip plugged into your ear it completely blocks out all background noise so you can hear the other party clearly. Even standing right in front of the server rack with the AC blowing, on the other end all that background noise is reduced to a quiet hush. I wish I'd bought it a year ago!
Just be aware that this headset has the Plantronics quick disconnect on the end of the cord. To plug it into a phone you will need the other half of the cord, the amplified base, or an adapter of some type. In my case, I paired it up with the "quick disconnect to 2.5mm" adapter for about $10 and it plugs right in on my cordless as well as my desktop phone as it also has a headset jack.
Not good for little ears Nov 02, 2011
By Ashley I have trouble keeping this on my ears, which are apparently smaller than average because this thing flops around on my head. I switched back to my work-issued headset.
