Comfortable, good sound, terrible noise canceling Sep 29, 2009

My existing headset looks just like a Plantronics audio 650 USB, but I don't have the USB dongle for it. I have used it with Skype and to narrate online tutorial videos. When I purchased Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10, I wanted to increase my accuracy so I purchased this noise-canceling Sennheiser microphone.
Out-of-the-box looked and felt great. The EQ is a bit odd, like other Sennheiser headsets I've owned in the past; I like it though, because it makes rock music sound great.
Unlike my Plantronics headset, the ear muffs are foam and let my ears "breathe" a little, which keeps them from getting too hot. It is also very comfortable even though I wear it for hours at a time.
The microphone is a completely different story. My voice sounds tinny and the microphone picks up WAY more background noise. It doesn't seem to make a whole lot of difference with Dragon, but it is definitely worse for Skype, and there's no way I can use it to narrate videos.
I like the Sennheiser sound, but this headset is not at all acceptable as a noise-canceling mic. I am disappointed because I basically wasted my money. Considering that the Sennheiser mic costs about 50% more than my Plantronics, I'm a little disgusted at the outcome.

Great Headset! Oct 04, 2007
By K. Zander My husband wanted this headset after reading reviews from other customers. He uses it with his laptop when he makes his long distance calls using Skype. He has some hearing loss, but with this headset, he can hear everyone clearly! Other people say that he sounds clear, too! When he listens to music on his boombox, he hears things he never heard before with his old headset. He says they are very comfortable and loves them! I ordered a pair for myself after trying them! My husband wants to order one of the Sennheiser wireless headsets next. We would recommend them highly! Sennheiser PC151 Over The Head Headset with Noise Cancelling Mic and In-line Volume Control

Sennheisers The Best Oct 29, 2007

I own three sets of Sennheiser Earphones, two for my ipod, This model replaced a Logitech pair(the wire on the Logitech broke) that I use primarily for Skype. I highly recommend the PC151 for the comfort, they are very lightweight and don't begin to feel heavy after a long hours of use, their incredible sound quality and the fact that it has an adjustible volume control on the cord. These are worth the extra expense. Works great on a MacBook Pro too!

Good gaming headphone Oct 18, 2007

Good price and good quality. Not as good quality as the high-end Sennheiser phones but still good. The mic is short but very good. I speak softly and the mic doesn't reach my mouth but ppl can still hear me perfectly. I had a Plantronics before and it was bad compared to this. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because it did fit snugly on my head. I want the headphone to fit well even if I move my head a lot. It is better than the Plantronics that constantly fell off when leaning forward.

Excellent headphones, very good value Mar 31, 2009
By PowerUser These are excellent headphones, both in construction quality and sound quality. They are comfortable for long sessions, and the tonal quality and dynamic range are impressive. The earpieces set on the ear, not around them, but are very comfortable. The noise-cancelling feature works very well; those listening on internet chat say the sound quality is excellent, with no static or stray noises.
My first pair had a defective microphone, Amazon replaced it within two days with a fine working replacement.
The microphone is not powered and my Intel Mac requires a powered microphone in the Mic Input jackslot. I had to acquire a USB adaptor, but then it worked perfectly. These do not come with a USB plug, only mini-jacks.
All in all I am very satisfied with these and would highly recommend them.
